Why Cars Make Me Happy

It all started in my younger years as a kid. I grew up in a household where materialistic things are an addition to life, but should never be your meaning. My parents did a great job to help me focus on my hobbies and to find my passion. Then I reached a crossroad where my happiness contradicted my values. How is it some clunky piece of metal that gets people from A to B could be so appealing? What about this structure, mechanics and design made me smile so much?

I was first introduced to the “car world” by my older brother. We always seemed to have the coolest collection of hot wheels. The best of the best! I began developing the ability to name cars by their brand, model and mention some performance statistics. It took up most of my childhood. Spending hours a day just building homes out of pencil sticks and driving each hot wheel car throughout the neighbourhood. As you can tell, I was keen to feel the enjoyment of cars.

Fast forward to 2021 and I’ve owned 3 cars and have created countless memories! Whether it be in my own cars, or ones that I’ve had the privilege to drive. The greatest emotion that I experience with cars is unfiltered excitement. There’s an unmatched sensation that flows through your body which I believe links back to my inner child.
